Remove Password Policy on Windows Mobile 6.0 / 6.1

If you connect your Windows Mobile device to some Exchange servers via Active Sync, some organizations force a password policy to be applied to your device. I am not a big fan of “The Man” putting restrictions on what I can and can’t do with my own hardware.

This hack will allow you to gain back the control you had prior to the policy being applied.

Using a registry editor (I use PHM), navigate to  \hklm\security\policies\policies and look for the value name “00001023″. Change the data from ‘0′ to ‘1′

This will undo the grayed out lock setting. You are now able to control the inactivity lock option as well as the duration of the inactivity.
