Bertha Lewis, ACORN’s chief organizer, said it is illegal for the filmmakers to film without notification and “fabricate” their stories, and action will be taken. Meanwhile, the dismissal of the ACORN workers on the videos was confirmed.

“I cannot and I will not defend the actions of the workers depicted in the video,” Lewis said in a prepared statement.

At ACORN’s Washington office, two workers were fired after a video revealed them offering to help the filmmaker acquire illegal home loans to set up a brothel. Those dismissals came only a day after two workers in Baltimore were fired for advising the “pimp” and “prostitute” how to fake tax forms and apply for illegal benefits for 13 “very young” girls who were scheduled to be brought into the U.S. to work as child prostitutes.

Dear President Obama, Vice President Biden, Senator Reid & Speaker Pelosi,

I do not approve of the class warfare policies and oppressive, arrogant attitude being pushed on the American people by the Obama Administration and the Pelosi-Reid Democrats in Congress. I’m writing to remind you that you, as government officials, are in government to serve the people, not make the people serve your government.

You know of the widespread disapproval of your wasteful, irresponsible giveaways, leftist redistribution policies, and big-government health care and energy schemes. I highly recommend you refrain from forcing short-sighted and foolish laws upon the citizens of this Republic.

Much as it pains me to say this, I have to admit it – my Democrat friends were right.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the nation’s hope would deteriorate, and sure enough there has been a 20 point drop in the Consumer Confidence Index since the election, reaching a lower point than any time during the Bush administration.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the US would become more deeply embroiled in the Middle East, and now, tens of thousands of additional troops are scheduled to be deployed into Afghanistan.

My Democrat Party friends told me if I voted for McCain, that the economy would get worse and sure enough unemployment is approaching 9.5% and the new stimulus packages implemented recently have sent the stock market lower than at any time since the Islamic Terrorists attacks of 9-11.

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "crooks" in high ranking positions in Federal government and sure enough, several recent cabinet nominees and Senate appointments revealed resumes of scandal, bribery and tax fraud.

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "Pork at the trough" in Federal government and sure enough, 17,500 "Pork Bills" showed up in Congress since January 2009…..

I was also told by my Democrat friends that if I voted for McCain, we would see more deficit spending in Washington D..C. , and sure enough, Obama has spent more in just 30 days than all other Presidents together – in the entire history of the good ole USA ….

Well I voted for McCain in November and my Democrat friends were right…all of their predictions have come true!

There has been alot of debate, both before and after the president’s speech. I am one of those parents who do not want my children listening to the speech. It’s not because I hate Obama. It is because I do not like the direction our country is currently headed. I did not vote on banking bailouts, the auto industry takeover, or the current health care reform. I did not vote because I didn’t want to, I did not vote because I wasn’t asked. With all the things in this country that I do not have control over, raising my kid’s is something I do. If I do not want my children participating in an event or listening to a speech, it is the only absolute thing I can control and I will do so. If you think it is wrong or arrogant, I don’t care…

I was watching the news last night and they were covering a story about the city of Dublin, CA and how they were refusing to accept $350k in stimulus money earmarked to make improvements on a public housing project. As it turns out HUD is looking at demolishing the project. I see this as fiscal responsibility. Why spend money improving something that you are looking to tear down. The residents don’t agree and are suing the city stating it is their right to have the money to improve their homes.

The interesting part of the story is an interview with a 21 year old resident of the project. She has lived there since she was 5 and now has a 5 year old of her own. Her comment was that not everyone has the privilege to pay $1000 a month for rent.

When I look at the definition of privilege it states:

1. restricted right or benefit: an advantage, right, or benefit that is not available to everyone

2. rights and advantages enjoyed by elite: the rights and advantages enjoyed by a relatively small group of people, usually as a result of wealth or social status
a system founded on privilege

3. special honor: a special treat or honor
It was a privilege to work with you.

Although I would agree that there are few persons born with a silver spoon, the other 99% of the country works for everything they have. I am taken back by the idea that hard work and the drive for self improvement is observed to be a privilege. It is this drive that has made this country into most of what it is today.

A people should not rely on their government, a government should rely on it’s people. We are slowly creating a well-fare state, dependant on our government. With dependence, comes control, and we have been handing over control for the last 60+ years.

I cannot blame the 21 year old single mother for her ideals of the “privileged”. She has not had the motivation to change her behavior. I believe that people are inherently lazy. Why would we work for something if it is going to be handed to us. Although this young lady could overcome her adversity, she does not have the motivation to do so. So I guess in her eyes, I am truly privileged. I am honored by her belief that I am one of the elite. I just wish she would get off her ass and quit blaming society for her misfortune.

I recently visited the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor. This is the site and final resting place for many of the 1,177 crewmembers who lost their lives on December 7, 1941. After a brief video explaining the events of that day, we boarded a Navy vessel for transport to the memorial. Glancing around the other visitors, there were people of all walks of life and nationalities. It wasn’t until we landed at the memorial that I was truly disappointed in the actions of the other guests. As I stepped off the boat, I quickly removed my ball cap, but noticed that no other person on the dock did the same. Most visitors pranced around taking family snap-shots, grinning in the normal vacation “I was here” photos. I would love to see the photos of them acting like this in front of their grandmothers headstone.

I realize that it has been over 65 years since that infamous day. I also realize that for most there is no family connection to the men entombed below the waters surface. But what I do not understand is how quickly we forget. How quickly a memorial turns into just another monument or sunken ship display. I would understand if a person did not realize the sacredness of this place, but with the lead-in video, I can see no excuse.

How can we as a nation turn a cemetery into just another road side attraction. Especially when those that died were on the front-lines, defended our nation and our way of life.
