Now this is Gun Control…

 –

My Friends and I went out to Dragon Man’s today for their annual Machine Gun Shoot. This is a popular event that gives everyone the opportunity to hold and fire some very impressive machine guns and weapons of all types. A good time for all..  We were also celebrating my friend JW’s transition into the world of marriage. What could be better than spending time with friends and firing some truly awesome weapons. Good luck JW.. I wish you the best in your life with your new wife!!!

Remembering JPL…

Last year my friends and I were on a 3 month project that lasted over a year (not due to anything under our control) for the Jet Propulsion Lab out in Pasadena, CA.. The traveling every week, living in a hotel and just the stress of not being home brought out some very interesting behavior in all of us. One thing we did to relieve stress was to get involved with R/C models. Below is a video of one of the flights of my TREX-450. I’m not sure, but I would bet a parking lot is probably not the best place to learn how to fly an R/C Helicopter. I did manage to crash a couple of times, but at least I avoided everyone’s cars. Thanks for the good times my JPL friends!!!  I am really surprised in the trust of my skills that Josh and Alex had :-)

To the Castle…. Repunzel!!!

Like knights of the old… My friends and Teri and I, mounted our steeds of iron and steel and made the 150 mile pilgrimage to Colorado’s only true castle in the sky. Bishop’s castle is an amazing creation of one man’s sweat and muscle. Jim Bishop started building his creation over 40 years ago and is continuing to build until he dies. Every year he hauls thousand of pounds of rock and steel to expand the construction. You have to watch your step as there are no building codes or safety regulations here. Whatever Jim feels like doing…… he does. When you think that all of the construction was done without any heavy machinery, you are amazed at the feat. Simple scaffolding and a strong back is what made this marvel. If you are ever in Colorado and looking to see something that is not the usual tourist destination, you have to visit Bishop’s Castle. On top of being absolutely amazing… Jim Bishop keeps his creation open to the public and absolutely free. Donations gladly accepted.

Went on a good ride last Sunday with Teri and some friends. We couldn’t ask for better weather. It was the Road King vs the GSXRs. I had comfort, they had speed.. But since our goal was to enjoy the day, everyone had a great time. We had breakfast at a nice little cafe in Kiowa. If you ever make it to that part of Colorado I definitely recommend stopping in. I have only eaten off the breakfast menu, but if their other dishes are as good as breakfast, you cannot go wrong.

Heading off to Bishop’s Castle next week. I am looking forward to another day on the bike with friends.
